     Functional health is a form of evidence based medicine which focuses on biology and systems performance with the goal of identifying and addressing the root cause to disease or health concern. This methodology takes into consideration the cellular interactions between a person and their environment; including stealth infections, environmental toxins and  emotional/physical traumas. The IFM approach is based on the evolving research in nutritional science, genomics, and epigenetics.

     Dr. Porter applies IFM by utilizing in depth patient history, symptom mapping, specific blood work/labs as well as DNA analysis. She aims to prioritize the patients specific issues by gaining a comprehensive perspective of the patient, identifying unhealthy patterns and applying individualized treatment plans and life style modifications. Treatment plans can be multifaceted and are centered upon Dr. Jess Peatross 'Kill, Bind, Sweat' protocol. Examples include diet and exercise modification, supplemental support, swapping for less toxic cleaning/cooking/self care products, opening detox an drainage pathways, killing parasites and other co-infections and mental health support such as meditation, breath-work or journal therapy.
